McNair Scholars

The UO TRIO McNair Scholars Program (McNair) is a federally-funded program named in honor of Dr. Ronald E. McNair. McNair prepares eligible students* to conduct research and enter graduate school immediately following the bachelors degree, and ultimately complete a PhD or research doctorate program. McNair Scholars benefit from a national network of McNair-exclusive opportunities, scholarships to fund summer research, travel awards for presenting research at conferences and visiting graduate schools, and fee-waivers for graduate school applications.

*McNair Program Eligibility

McNair programs are funded by the federal government and have specific eligibility for program participants. At least 2/3 of participants must be low-incomefirst generation college students. Remaining spots in program may be participants from groups underrepresented in graduate education (e.g., Black, Hispanic, American Indian, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiians, and Native American Pacific Islanders).

Launch Pad

The Launch Pad is a growing community of Ducks interested in getting involved with research, finding a faculty mentor, applying for summer research internships and distinguished scholarships, applying for graduate school, and much more! Students in Launch Pad receive priority preference for the McNair Scholars Program.
